Urban Horse Animal Welfare Day in FYHP

The Fettercairn Youth Horse Project and My Lovely Horse Rescue held an Urban Horse Owners welfare clinic in FYHP on Sunday the 19th of November.

FYHP staff and volunteers along with fantastic help from MLHR volunteers ran the clinic with local Urban Horse owners. Overall, it was a great day with staff, volunteers and owners working really well together.

Twelve people from the Fettercairn area brought their horses in on the day. Each horse was checked, wormed and micro-chipped by the vet. We also had the farrier on site to trim the horses hooves and an equine dentist to check and treat any horse in need.

This pilot welfare clinic was organised with the hope of securing future funding for more of these worthwhile clinics.

We would like to say a big thank you to MLHR for all their help and also thanks to Barrack Gate Veterinary Clinic, to Andrew Manders, the farrier and to Maria O’Rourke, the equine dentist. We also would like to thank the local Fettercairn horse owners for attending and look forward to working with them in the future.
